Koh Samui

In Koh Samui, Digyna and I stayed at another beautiful village style hotel called The Buri Rasa Village Resort.  The hotel was awesome, and the view was even more spectacular.

It was even more entertaining that we felt like honeymooners.

The elephant is so cute.

Yes, this was our entire compound.

Yes, this is still our room.  Yes, that is another bed on our porch.  No, we did not use it.

This was the hotel's restaurant on the beach.  We liked the jellyfish lanterns!

Some random pictures of the beach...

The iPhone didn't do justice to how beautiful and clear the water was.

It did, however, do justice to how cute and wet this doggy was.

We spent most of our time in Koh Samui relaxing.  We were wiped out from all off our adventures in Chiang Mai, and we wanted to come back to the States relaxed.  Therefore, we only planned one adventure type day.  We took a 1.5 hour speed boat ride to the very small island of Koh Tao, where we went snorkeling in the bluest water I have ever seen.

But my butt still hurts from the speedboat ride. We rode the boat out so far that at times we could see nothing but water (and feel nothing but harsh waves shoving out behinds into the seats).  We even rode through a thunderstorm.  I'll admit, that was kind of scary.  But it cleared up, and boy was the destination out of this world...

Snorkeling was scary at first.  Digyna and I hated when certain little black fish would be all up in our grill.  But we eventually got used to it (and used to swimming without a life jacket), and we saw all sorts of colorful fish, ranging from white and gold to all different colors of the rainbow on one fish!
The water was so clear it was like you weren't even in water! You can even see our legs!

And look how blue the non-shallow water is.  Spectacular!

Koh Samui was the perfect way to end our 16 day vacation from reality.  Now we're both back in the states and back to work.  Now I'm just looking forward to the next time I can take off somewhere amazing.  I'm thinking Africa.  Suggestions, anyone?

dern taang doi sà-wàt-dì-pâap

That's Bon voyage in Thai. Quite appropriate, as I'm sitting at the RDU airport, waiting for my friend, Digyna, so we can head to Bangkok! I am too excited and am about to break out my lonely planet Thailand guide to get to learning about our awesome possum destination. Our basic itinerary is Bangkok (3 days), Northern Thailand including Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai (7 days), and the beaches at and near Koh Samui (4 days). I'll do my best to keep this updated, but, honestly, I might wait until I get back and try the whole "unplugged" thing.

Not an exciting pic below, but I'm trying to figure out this blogger app and it's functions.

Next stop... Bangkok.
