Ever since I injured my back as a freshman in college dancing bhangra, I have not been able to and have been advised not to run because of the impact on my lower back. Instead, I have kept to the elliptical for the last 7 years. But this year, I decided that enough was enough. I don't want to never be able to run again! So I'm starting off slow, and I've decided to run my first 5K on October 13, 2012 in Chapel Hill. The race raises money for the UNC Lineberger Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Clinic. UPDATE on 10/3/12: Since my trip to Thailand and my car accident, my training has come to a complete stand still. I am sad about it, but there's nothing more important than health! I'll still be going to the 5K, and hopefully running most of it, but, now, post-concussion, my goal is to complete the whole thing (whether I walk or run). Wish me luck!
